Bubble Gum Cupcakes: A Whimsical Treat That Tastes Like Childhood

There’s something undeniably magical about bubble gum. The vibrant pink color, the playful flavor, the way it instantly transports you back to carefree days of roller skates, sticker books, and backyard summer adventures. So why not turn that nostalgia into something you can bite into?

That’s exactly what inspired these Bubble Gum Cupcakes — soft, fluffy vanilla cupcakes infused with the unmistakable charm of bubble gum flavor, topped with a dreamy buttercream that’s as whimsical as it is delicious.

A Sweet Idea That Pops

These cupcakes are perfect for birthday parties, Valentine's Day treats, or just a fun weekend baking project. The star ingredient?  Bubble Gum Flavor — a little goes a long way, and it gives both the cupcake and frosting a vibrant, true-to-memory taste that’s not overpowering but unmistakably bubble gum.

Paired with pure vanilla extract and a soft, buttery crumb, the result is a treat that’s playful but elevated enough for any celebration.

Pretty in Pink (or Red)

We added a few drops of pink food coloring to the frosting for that signature bubble gum hue, but you can go bolder with red or keep it natural — the flavor is the main event. Finish with heart-shaped sprinkles or glittery toppers to really make them pop (pun intended).

Pro Tip: Don’t Overthink It

The recipe is straightforward — one bowl for dry, one bowl for wet, then mix and bake. The buttercream is classic American-style, whipped until fluffy and cloud-like. If you have a piping bag and star tip, go wild. If not? A good ol’ butter knife and a generous dollop of frosting will do the trick just fine.

Why You’ll Love These Cupcakes:

  • They taste like a bite of nostalgia.

Ingredients

For the Cupcakes:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg, at room temperature

  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

  • 1 tsp Super Strength Bubble Gum Flavor

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp fine salt

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

For the Buttercream:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

  • 3 cups powdered sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1/4 cup whipping cream

  • 1 tsp Super Strength Bubble Gum Flavor

  • Pink or red food coloring (optional)

  • Sprinkles, for decorating

Instructions

To Make the Cupcakes:

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Line a 12-cup muffin pan with cupcake liners and set aside.

  2. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and bubble gum flavor. Mix until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix just until the batter is smooth—about 1 minute.

  5. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the tops spring back when gently pressed.

  6. Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting.

To Make the Buttercream:

  1. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.

  2. Add the whipping cream and bubble gum flavor. Mix until fully incorporated.

  3. If desired, add food coloring one drop at a time until the desired shade is achieved.

  4. Transfer the frosting to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe swirls onto the cooled cupcakes and top with sprinkles.
